Set in Los Angeles, Game Over tells the story of Joaquin Otero, a struggling actor who is catapulted into becoming the personal assistant to the president and founder of Imperial Games, the most controversial video game company, famous for its violence.

Viewing the position as a pit-stop with his eyes set on making it in Hollywood, Joaquin reluctantly takes on the role of being the right hand to Mike Chapman, ex-con and mastermind behind Imperial Games. Drug runs, appointments with prostitutes, and planning infamous parties is just another day for Joaquin.

Initiated into “the family,” Joaquin soon discovers that Mike sits at the throne of the video game kingdom but his sister Rachel, Imperial’s Chief Creative Officer, resides in his shadow.

With time, it becomes apparent that “family” is just another word when secrets begin to unravel in a world where there are multiple players, not even a reset button can stop the game from being over.

Bio

Elliot Torres was born and raised in Waukegan, Illinois. He moved to New York City alone at the age of 17 in May of 1994 and attended Pace University where he graduated in 1998 with a BA in Communications. He worked behind the scenes in the entertainment industry for several years. From 2000-2002, he was an entertainment journalist for Loquesea.com where he was responsible for writing over 200 articles, which included film and music reviews and interviews with Latino, urban music personalities. In the summer of 2002, his debut collection of poetry, Five Years of Solitary was released to an enthusiastic response. It chronicled his experiences in New York City as a young, gay Puerto Rican man from the age of 17-22.

Undaunted is an account of the second phase of his life in New York City.  The volume takes readers on a journey through this young writer’s emotional and professional growth from his 22nd -27th year. Elliot appeared in various publications such as QV, XY, Next, Clik, French publication Baby Boy magazine and Ambiente Magazine. He was on the cover of Ambiente twice (2004 and 2008) and in January 2005 the magazine named him one of the Top Ten Gay Latinos of 2004. He has read his poetry and conducted workshops at many colleges and universities including Brown University, Baruch College, Wheaton College, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and NYU.
